What makes us laugh? Our humour style

Has this ever happened to you?

You're sitting next to someone watching the same movie. They're laughing their guts out, while you're thinking “What’s so funny?" 😳

It happened to me last week. Same movie, same scene, but definitely not same humour style. Yep, it was obvious that what made that lady next to me laugh out loud didn’t even get a smirk out of me, and probably vice versa.

That moment sent me down a rabbit hole, and I found the Humour Typology Quiz. It breaks humour down into four styles:

😂 Stand-Up. The storyteller who enjoys making everyone laugh.
😉 Sniper. Quick, witty, and often at their funniest with a well-timed one-liner.
🤗 Sweetheart. Uses humour to bring people together and help everyone feel included.
🥳 Magnet. Finds humour in life's observations and enjoys clever, thoughtful comedy.

Why share?

Because I’m a firm believer that humour and playfulness are non-negotiables. They help us connect with others, build trust, and make difficult moments a little lighter.

Knowing our humour style might serve as a useful clue to why we may click instantly, connect more easily, and have natural affinity with some people. It also helps us appreciate that we all experience the world a little differently. And I think that’s awesome.

I'm curious, what would you guess your style is? Drop it in the comments. In case you were wondering, mine is Sniper.

If you'd like to find out, here's the quiz. It only takes a few minutes, and it's a fun way to learn a little more about your natural humour style.

Last and most important, regardless of your style, have a good laugh 🌻
